Kid’s Spotlight We are so thankful to all the young people who help to support animals in our Charlotte community. Here are just a few examples of how kids can get involved!
Ellie and McKenzie made and donated cat enrichment items. Kennedy stopped by to donate dog food that she saved up her own money to buy! Thank you so much, Kennedy! Girl Scout Troop 3032 donated a car full of supplies (blankets, pet food/treats, paper towels and peanut butter). They worked on the project for months. We met with them in the beginning of the year to tell them about us and what we do for the community. Leila G. is 10 year old who raised $300 dollars holding a sale of her American Girls dolls and accessories! These two young ladies made dog treats and sold them along with other goodies to raise money for HSC. Charlotte Kesser and Claire Paulsen (ages 7 &8) donated dog and cat food, treats, paper and cleaning products 12 year old Olivia Winston donated “Adoption Kits” for new pet parents to take home! Each kit included a blanket, toy, bowl, and treat. She is a Junior in Girl Scouts and attends Piedmont IB Middle School. Madden and Jessica collected supplies and donations for us for an organization called Kids that Care. They raised a ton of supplies and $518 from selling lemonade and baked goods they made themselves! Whitt and Asher donated pet supplies! Girls on the Run wrote encouraging letters and gave donations Girl Scout Troop 3037 made a monetary donation and LOTS of cat and dog enrichment made by hand Sutton and Smith donated pet supplies Athena and Daphne Bishop and Anika Sign donated money to HSC Zoe Lund and Ellie Picard raised $135 with a lemonade stand! Troop 1483 held a donation drive called “Peanut Butter for Puppies”. They collected over 627 jars for the dogs in our community. Christian brought us some homemade cat toys and dog toys. 10 year old Levi donated $50 from his own money in honor and memory of his dog Indy. Savannah Potvin, age 8, donated money she and a friend earned by selling their artwork of animals around their neighborhood. Elizabeth and Stella did a bake sale and collected $217! Virginia made two cat condos, a cat scratcher and toys. She made them for her Service as Action hours Lena, Lucas and Leo made dog toys for the shelter pups Hartleigh donated cat, dog food, paper towels, toys and misc. cleaning supplies Miraya (10) and Jai (7) Pandya came and read to the dogs (including Myra here) and donated money saved up from their piggy banks to HSC! Chloe brought in all of the donations she collected at her birthday party! Sponsored HSC pup, Shadow’s adoption fee! Mary Hardin gathered donations for our animals for her birthday. James raised donations for over a month by creating and passing out flyers These students held a bake sale fundraiser to purchase materials for HSC. They dropped of the donations and made a few cute signs for our adoptable animals as well. Students from North Carolina Cyber Academy (National Honor Society) collected supplies for HSC. Noah donated supplies and a cat house. Lani dropped off donations and personalized cat houses with the Happy Hooves 4-H Club. Lana and Katarina dropped off donations of treats, toys, pet food, and beds.
