DinklesHumane Society of Charlotte
Say hello to Mr. Dinkles. This 3-year old boy is very vocal, and will respond with lots of cat-conversation if you just give him the opportunity. Dinkles sports a very handsome black and white tuxedo-style fur coat highlighted by four white paws and a truly wild set of white whiskers. Be ready to chuckle a little when you meet him.
I have tested positive for Feline Leukemia Virus (FelV). FElV is a cat specific virus that I came into contact with, either through my mother (at birth) or another cat's saliva (from grooming or a bite wound). FelV can cause a cat to be more susceptible to diseases that a healthy cat may be able to fight off. HSC does not know when I came in contact with the FElV, and it is possible that I may be able to rid the virus from my system. For this reason, I should be retested at a later date, around 6 months. My next test is due 9/1/2021. I need to be an indoor cat for the remainder of my life to protect me from exposure to diseases and should receive regular check-ups just like any other cat.
I have also been diagnosed with Feline immunodeficiency Virus, or FIV. Cats with FIV typically have shortened lifespans depending on exposure to illness but it is not uncommon for us to live normal happy lives! Taking special care of an FIV positive cat is important to ensure a healthy life. A good relationship with your Veterinarian will be crucial to my health and success in your home!
