Pet Help

Pet Help

Humane Society of Charlotte’s retention programs are dedicated to helping keep families together. Unfortunately, despite loving their animals, families in crisis often feel they must resort to surrendering their pets because they don’t know where to turn for temporary assistance with pet food, shelter, medical or behavior services.

The Humane Society of Charlotte Community Outreach team is always here to help, but unfortunately, we are not able to act as a 24-hour pet helpline. If you are experiencing an animal-related emergency, please dial 911. Examples of these emergencies could include, but are not limited to:

  • Sick, dying animal without access to veterinary services (locational or financial)
  • Animal found severely injured
  • Suspicion of abuse or neglect
  • Animals left in hot or cold cars

Our Outreach Team operates on a Tuesday-Saturday schedule and is often out of office assisting citizens in need. Please call and leave your name, phone number, and a detailed message and we will return your call. Due to the high call volume, your call will be returned within 48 hours.
