An Important Message To Our Community

At the Humane Society of Charlotte, our vision is a humane community in which people and animals live together harmoniously. We are a community resource committed to creating a more humane and compassionate community for everyone by delivering effective, innovative services that strengthen the human-animal bond and improve the lives of companion animals and the people who care about them.

We use our vision to guide our growth, both individually and as an organization. During these traumatic and turbulent times, we would like to express our outrage, as we have been deeply affected by the events of the past week.

While many view HSC as an animal-centric organization, our intent is to positively impact people and animals. As a non-profit built on the belief that all people are equally deserving of the love and companionship of a pet, HSC's work is rooted in compassion and equity. Our HSC family is grieving the murders of George Floyd and the many other victims of racist violence.

Within our work and in adherence with our vision and mission, there is no place for hate, racism, and intolerance. As the employees, volunteers, and communities we love and serve mourn, we stand solidly with those who seek systemic chance, justice, and a social fabric that embraces everyone equally. And as animal welfare professionals, we must always remember to keep the human in humane.

Racism and intolerance have no place in the humane society we are fighting for.

We hear you, we see you, and we stand with you.
